Today was the day.

Or, it was at least according to Morgan.

Mark marched through the woods with a sense of purpose he only truly felt when he was heading towards Morgan’s house.

It had been close to five weeks since his encounter with Valencia, the Warrior Poet. He still thought about her. She’d left two days later, after some especially quality goodbye sex. About a week later, he’d come back to Morgan and informed her that he was sure: he wanted to leave Birchwood, and he would like her help.

They had talked long into the night about desires and possibilities. Morgan was an exceptionally well-traveled woman. She had been all over the country, from the Emerald Wilds to the eleven territories to the far frozen north beyond the mountains. For a reason he’d never quite been able to decipher, Morgan really liked him. She wanted to help him. And so they’d spoken at length about what he wanted, and she had tried to find a location somewhere in the land that would fit what he wanted. Which he felt probably wasn’t too difficult.

He didn’t want a lot.

Somewhere not here was the biggest thing. Somewhere friendlier. Preferably near some woodlands, but not too dangerous. He could defend himself well enough, but he knew there were some truly savage beasts in the lands.

Morgan had considered it for quite awhile, and finally she’d asked him if he would enjoy living near the Redwood Forest. The idea struck a chord in him, a good one. He’d heard much of the Redwood Forest. He knew it was where elves lived, but also humans, mostly along its boarder. It was a massive forest of mild magic that took up almost the whole of the western coast. There were also said to be many dryads in the Redwood Forest and after that one encounter he’d had with Morgan’s dryad friend…

Well, he was particularly motivated to hook up with a dryad again.

Sex with them was phenomenal.

The next morning, after their long discussion and then long, pleasant fuck after, Morgan had awoken with an idea that seemed to excite her tremendously. She ended up sending him off, saying that she needed to make a journey and she would probably be gone about a month, but that she might be able to set up a very, very nice living situation for him. She didn’t want to say what it was though, claiming it was a surprise.

Mark trusted her, at this point. Honestly, he trusted her with his life, so he didn’t argue. Just thanked her, wished her luck on her journey, and then kissed her farewell for now and had gone back to his home.

Today was the day she said she would try to be back.

The past few weeks had been almost unbearable. Once he had actually made the decision to leave his home village behind, Mark found it almost intolerable to go back to. Each day he awoke with a deep, desperate desire to grab his things and leave.
